Essay

      The Portrait

At present everybody searches for a good husband and wifewith money, cars and home. That is why some people create families to love, but other people get married on business.
However, people who get married on business find lovers who crush his/her family.
Aldous Huxley wrote a story about a traditional triangle of a husband, a lover and a wife. In this story a main hero Earl Hurtmore becomes a participantof such triangle. His wife Lady Hurtmore gets married on business. But she falls in love with a young artist Giangolini who was hunted to richness. When Lord knows about them, he finds a wise decision. Lord Hurtmore takes his jewels and he releases them. Then Lady Hurtmore realises that poor Giangolini was with her because she had richness and jewels.
Huxley wrote this story because he wanted to say us that we shouldn't betray our husbands and wives.
And finally, I think that it is better to get married to love than on business and to live a happy life with husbands/wives.

           Dear Bairma Vladimirovna,

How are you? I feel very nice today. I want to speak for you about personages of the story.
So in James Joyce's story main personages are Mrs Mooney, Polly and Mr Doran.
The story begins from Mrs Mooney's life. Mrs Mooney was a clever and determine woman who had two children, and went for her husband. She opened a boarding house which had a floating population. And all the residents are young men who spoke of her as The Madam. Mrs Mooney governed the house cunningly and firmly. She wished her daughter happiness and didn't want the loss of daughter's honor. But Mrs Mooney knew that Polly flirted with one man from the boarding house.
Polly was Mrs Mooney's daughter who was a slim girl of nineteen;  she had light soft hair and a small full mouth. Her eyes were grey with a shade of green colour which made her look like a little perverse madonna. Polly is very chummy with people. She falled in love with Mr Doran.
Mr Doran was celibate who had simply taken advantage of Polly's youth and inexperience. After the conversation with Mrs Mooney he had to marry to Polly.
The srory centers around moral problems which are true to life. It makes us behave properly in relationships with the bosom.

      Hope you write me soon.
      Yours sincerely,
      Saryuna.
